    Happy International Women's Day! 

    In recognition of this important day, let's celebrate the strong women in our lives who inspire and support us – encouraging us to be our BEST selves.   Let’s help our society continue to work towards a better, more inclusive and gender-equal world.  Let’s boldly challenge bias, work to spread equality, and stand up to violence.

    Momentum SPARK Crew at the Twin Cities Marathon

    It's a little gesture, just a small token, but our "you got this!" SPARKlets made a big impact at Sunday's Twin Cities Marathon in St. Paul, Minnesota.  After the race, I was delighted to see this wonderful message float into my inbox:

    I wanted to say thank you. I was handed a “You got This” bracelet at (mile 22? 24?? of) the Twin Cities Marathon. I can’t recall the exact miles but it was the PERFECT spot for the motivation I needed JUST THEN. I remember thanking the person who gave it to me and thinking “I need to tell them THANK YOU” as at that moment the thank you I mumbled was not enough.  I have not taken this off my wrist although my marathon was 2 days ago.
    It is a reminder than not only can I run 26.2 miles, but I “Got This” when I parent my two young kids and get overwhelmed with life in general. I do cross fit on a regular basis and can think of many workouts in the future that I will be looking at my wrist (hello planks!). 
    I also found an additional bracelet on the road as I continued to run the marathon and picked it up, barely able to bend over at that time! My 6 year old daughter has been struggling with not feeling good enough and I shared that with her. It has been empowering in a way I never would have expected and I would not have thought of on my own to buy a bracelet as we get through this bump in the road. Plus, she (as do I) thinks it is cool that we both share a special bracelet.

    I cannot thank you enough. I’m one story of many people I am sure you motivate, but I am excited to look into your company further. In a world, where people can be quick to complain, it is nice to have a positive experience and share that with others.

    When people ask me why I do what I do, it's stories like these that fuel me.  We all crave making a difference, and I'm inspired to see people like Angela out there, tackling their big goals and achieving remarkable dreams.  

    Then to know, in the middle of her great achievement, she's thinking of how to Share the Spark of positivity with not only another person, but the next generation of great achievers?  It's an incredible testament to the power we all have in us to reach out and support those around us through the power of words and the belief that you can do anything.

    Motivation Monday - Hitting The Reset Button

    Happy Motivation Monday everybody...  Or, should we say "Momentum Monday?"  Personally, I think that has a marvelous ring to it!

    Now that we've officially wandered into fall, the weather is starting to change, the leaves are starting to burst into magnificent colors, and we are heading into the home stretch of 2016.  Maybe it's the thought that we're on the brink of bidding bon voyage to one year and looking towards the next that has a lot of people feeling very introspective.  It seems a lot of people are asking themselves "have I done all I set out to do this year?" or "are there changes I can make to my life that will help me feel more fulfilled?" or "what's that one goal I've always wanted to make time to tackle?"

    Well, believe it or not, this is a perfect time to ask these sorts of questions of yourself.  After all, you don't have to wait for a new year to make those changes that will bring you closer to the life you've always wanted!  If you sit down and ask the hard questions now, not only do you finish 2016 with a bang, you've got a remarkable head start on setting (and achieving) your goals for 2017.  

    So let's do it!  Let's hit "reset" and do a little self-evaluation!  Let's explore who we are, what we are doing, and where we are going.  Let's get the road map to our dreams all plotted out and then start on the path to turning dreams into goals and goals into accomplishments to be proud of.  Sit down and ask yourself:

    What are my strengths?

    The first step to figuring out what is or isn't going well is identifying what is.  By identifying what our strengths and gifts are, we can structure our goals in a way that cater to what we naturally are really, really good at.

    Do I have a list of what I want out of my life?

    It may sound crazy, but simply getting out on paper all of those things that you've always wanted to do (or wanted for yourself) is a very powerful exercise.  By announcing them, you've given them a sense of weight that they didn't have before.  So sit down, don't worry about how crazy they may seem, what others would think, or even your own self-doubt...  Write it out!

    Am I making things harder on myself than I need to?

    Let's face it...  We all self-sabotage.  We over-complicate.  We're faster at listing all the reasons something will never work than we are exploring the reasons they will.  Instead of saying "I'll never run that marathon I've always wanted to run because I'm not fit and I have no time to train," say to yourself "I want to run a marathon, but first I need to block out time to add running to my daily routine."  Once you'be folded that new routine into your life, see if running that marathon is now more obtainable.

    Do I not try because I am scared of failing?

    More often than you probably realize, the real reason you don't do more of what you've always wanted to do is because you're scared of trying and then falling short.  But have you ever asked yourself "if I don't hit my goal, what's the worst that will happen?"  If you set out to run a marathon but you end up dropping out at mile 7, you may not have finished, but you're still 7 miles further into your dream than you were when you before.  Trying and failing is almost always better than failing to try.


    To quote that remarkable and seemingly fearless innovator David Bowie: "Tomorrow belongs to those who hear it coming."  So what's tomorrow saying to you?
